Welcome To return of Tiger Woods In Golf

The majority of golfers on the PGA Tour- welcomed the return of Tiger Woods. Because with Tiger Woods around, golf gets a lot more interesting -- especially on TV. But Tiger Woods return has kicked an extra dose of buzz into The Masters, a tournament that generally doesn't even need it. Not with Padraig Harrington going for his third major in a row, Phil Mickelson playing well early this year and Greg Norman back in the field.

Those story lines, though, will be overshadowed when the attention turns to Tiger Woods. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Not when Tiger Woods come-from-behind victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational two weeks ago drew a 4.9 final-round rating, the best number since last year's U.S. Open -- which Tiger Woods famously won on one leg.

For the second consecutive year, ESPN airs the first two rounds of The Masters, including today's second round at 4 p.m. Third- and fourth-round coverage switches to CBS, with additional live coverage available at Masters.com. The Golf Channel is even going to post Twitter updates.
As legendary and prestigious as The Masters may be, it's the spectacle of Tiger that makes this year's tournament so compelling. Tiger Woods is this generation's Babe Ruth, Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan. Every time Tiger Woods tees up, viewers are witness to history. With apologies to Will Smith, Tiger Woods is legend. And the fact Woods makes golf on TV bearable viewing may be Tiger Woods most impressive feat.
